Synopsis The Big Bang Theory: Season 9, Episode 23
Leonard's mother has come for a visit. While Leonard wants to avoid her
at all cost, Penny wants truly to bond with her despite the less than
happy relationship Leonard has with her. So it's good timing for Leonard
when Raj mentions that there is a special screening of The Avengers
(2012) that he wants them all to go to. While Leonard and Howard are up
for the evening out to the cinema, Sheldon doesn't want them to go
without him, he who promised Amy he would go shopping with her at that
time. When Leonard tells him that he can still go shopping with Amy and
that they will save him a spot in line, Sheldon balks at the notion, not
believing in "cutsies", that is until they mention that people nowadays
are hired to do a number of unusual things, such as stand in line for
others. Who Sheldon hires is Stuart, but not quite in the way they all
had in mind. Regardless, Stuart relishes what looks to be his newfound
wealth from these "person for hire" type tasks, while Sheldon still will
not ...
Review :
Another sh**** episode.
There were a few funny spots early on but by the time the episode ended, it was at an overall loss for me. *Spoilers*
Penny was in a position to tell off Leonard's mother - which the woman greatly deserves and I would love to see - but the writers allowed the mother 'the win' in the discussion. Awwww, she wasn't invited or told about their wedding. Poor baby.
Of course the perfect Penny answer is, "What? Why would Leonard want you there? All you ever do is insult him!"
I admit that Penny did reply with "Would you have come if we'd invited you (to the wedding)?" To which the mother said, "No." But she (the mother) wanted to be invited.
You know, as a world-renowned psychologist, don't you know that relationships go both ways? If you don't like it, change. But right, it's not HER fault! Why should she change?
And the whole line cutting thing - that was pathetic. The guy cuts, gets totally away with it and then a woman accuses Sheldon? That whole scene just made me angry so any positive aspects from the little touch of humor, earlier on, was squashed.
Finally, Penny the 3rd sales rep in her company? Huh?! This is a character that could barely count to 100. How???
I don't know why I even bother watching this show anymore, unless it's simply because there is literally nothing better on.
